POVERTY AS A CHALLENGE
WE ALL KEEP HEARING ABOUT A KILLING EVIL: POVERTY
BUT HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT IT DEEPLY? WHAT EXACTLY IS POVERTY ? WHY POVERTY? THESE QUESTIONS MIGHT LOOK SIMPLE BUT THERE IS A DEEP HISTORY BEHIND IT. LET'S EXPLORE.... BEFORE WE GO INTO THE WORLD OF POVERTY,HAVE A LOOK AT THESE VIDEOS... Poverty in India is a major issue. Rural Indians depend on unpredictable agriculture incomes, while urban Indians rely on jobs that are, at best, scarce.
Poverty Situation What do we generally notice in rural areas? villagers generally take up agricultural practices for fulfilling their everyday needs. But is that sufficient for them? Don't you think agriculture is highly dependent on rain patterns and the monsoon season? In that case inadequate rain and improper irrigation facilities can obviously cause low, or in some cases, zero production of crops. Additionally, the Indian family unit is often large, which can amplify the effects of poverty. POVERTY ERADICATION POLICIES HAVE BEEN PLANNED AND IMPLEMENTED BY OUR GOVERNMENT BUT the benefits of these programs are yet to bear fruits. |
WHAT IS POVERTY?
POVERTY as we know is about not having enough money to meet the basic needs may it be food, clothing or shelter.
However, poverty is more, much more that just not having enough money. The WORLD BANK describes poverty as:" poverty is hunger, lack of shelter, being sick.not being able to see a doctor, not having access to education, not having a job is fear for the future, living one day at a time." |
I LIVE IN A COLONY AND NEAR MY LOCALITY I CAN FIND LOADS AND LOADS OF POOR PEOPLE. MOST OF THEM ARE ILLITERATE, THEIR PARENTS HAVE NO JOBS,THEIR SURVIVAL CONDITIONS ARE WORST ESPECIALLY DURING THE RAINY SEASON. THEY SUFFER A LOT BECAUSE OF HUNGER . i and my friends while coming back from school we also give them our food, we meet them during our vacations, spend time with them so that they feel happy, during festivals we offer them sweets. we also give them clothes to keep them warm during winter and to protect themselves in rainy season. we have had a discussion with the political party member to arrange some funds for these people as a small donation. IF I CAN DO SURELY YOU TOO CAN. |
Increasing Poverty in India The phenomenal increase in POPULATION in the cities is one of the major reasons for poverty in urban areas of INDIA. Large scale migration of rural families to cities is the reason for additional population. This is mainly attributed to low level or poor employment opportunities in the villages. A SOLUTION TO THIS...........
The INDIAN government has implemented a number of programs designed to eradicate poverty.Though not all of them were successful but INDIA has had some success with these programs.
The PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM and CHANGES IN INDUSTRIAL POLICIES have sought to increase the GDP to some extent. JAWAHAR ROZGAR YOJANA , the TRAINING RURAL YOUTH for SELF EMPLOYMENT,the INTEGRATED RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM and the other on-going initiatives have been very useful. EDUCATE THE YOUTH..THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO ERADICATE POVERTY
